Purpose: Skaters can practice this drill to help with the extension of their free leg on their toe loop take-off using chasses to mimic the foot placement prior to the extension. Adding the loop with free leg on the side will help to feel the hip movement without picking. This drill is also great for working on toe loop combinations. Skaters should keep their upper body checked and shoulders stacked over hips as they extend their leg.
Focus: leg extension, upper body check, rhythm and timing, coordination of upper and lower body, hip placement, toe loop, combos.
