Purpose: This drill helps skaters to work on the coordination of their reach back, pick and upper body rotation for the take-off of their lutz. Practicing this will help skaters to utilize their upper body to help pull through on the take-off, while maintaining a straight forward head position until they are ready to take-off. It helps skaters to work on their counter rotation and edge control. Notice the pick placement as well, this will help mimic the on-ice take-off.
Focus: extension, timing, coordination, lutz, upper body rotation
