Level: Foundation
Base exercise: Toe-loop walkthrough
Variation: Non-landing leg forward outside three turn into two foot glide before reach back with picking foot
Purpose: A forward outside three turn press back is a common entrance into a toe-loop. Students can practice feeling the alignment for it without creating too much rotation by placing their foot down after the three turn, allowing them to stabilize on their skating foot before reaching back with picking foot. Additionally, pushing back with the picking foot from the two foot glide helps students pick more straight behind the skating foot rather than too far inside the circle.
Helps with these common mistakes: Toe-loop pathway too curved or swingy, not having the weight on the skating foot before picking, picking too far into the circle.
Associated skating element: Toe-loop
Rotational direction demonstrated: Counterclockwise
Equipment: No equipment
