  • Foundation: Off-ice backward outside counter demonstration

    Episode 5

    Purpose: Skaters can practice their off-ice counters changing directions through counter-rotation onto a new lobe while maintaining the same edge.

    Focus: Basic technique, turn placement, edge control, upper body position, arm position

  • Advanced: Off-ice forward outside counter on the floor demonstration.

    Purpose: When working on the counter off the ice, skaters should focus on the free leg and upper body position to build muscle memory and consistency for on the ice.

    Focus: Basic technique, free leg position, upper body position.

  • Advanced: Off-ice backward outside counter demonstration

    Purpose: In this floor counter, skaters should focus on extending their back leg on the outside edge to reach back before counter-rotating to forward, while keeping a strong core to maintain good upper body position.

    Purpose: On this floor backward inside counter, skaters should focus on the free leg position counterchecking across before and after the turn.
