Level: Foundation
Base exercise: Back spin to H position
Variation: Back spin cross position before the H position into loop jump exit
Purpose: This is a key, bread and butter drill to help skaters with their axis and air position, alignment, and loop jump. Skaters need to develop the control to be able to sit back into H position from a backspin, and adding the jump at the end helps practice the pop up needed for a loop jump
Helps with these common mistakes: Tilted axis, not sitting back or increasing the edge before a jump, alignment over landing side before and after a jump, not having a tight air position.
Associated skating element: Loop jump, any jump landing, back spin
Rotational direction demonstrated: Counterclockwise
Equipment: No equipment
