Level: Beginner
Base exercise: Snowplow pushes
Variation: From standstll, both feet
Purpose: Doing snowplow stop pushes from standstill helps students learn how to use their outside edge to create snow on the ice. It can be less scary than doing it from moving, and it is easier because they do not have the additional momentum. Practicing the pushes on both feet ensures that skaters do not get too biased to one side and neglect the strength and control on the other
Focus: Proper blade use, strength
Direction: Left and Right
Equipment: No Equipment
